Why ski when only a few runs are open?
Why ski the man-made stuff? Why ski for just an hour or so? Yes, people ask these questions all the time. And I don’t mind, because this kind of thinking keeps a lot of folks away and leaves the early-season terrain to those of us who really care. But, if you’d like a few reasons, here you go: 1) To get your ski legs back. While a lot of us are active year-round, skiing still hits muscles that likely haven’t been working exactly this way in months. Going for just a few runs a day is a great way to get back in without killing yourself. Without walking funny for three days after. You know what I mean. 2) It tends to be less crowded early season and the people who do show up tend to be like-minded. The slopes aren’t yet filled with people taking lessons. Most of your fellow skiers are capable and know the terrain. There’s an unspoken comradery of people who get it. 3) A new reason has been freedom from COVID lock-down mentality. Most of us have been spending more than our share of time inside. Skiing has been a gift. Blue ski, white snow and the wind ripping by. The joy is immeasurable. 4) It’s a day on snow! There are a few of my reasons and if you ask someone else who’s braved the early season, you’ll likely get a few different answers. This is not to say that if you aren’t early-season inclined you need to get out there. Those of us who are out there like the smaller numbers. But if you are considering it,! don’t blame you…at all. Hope to see you soon. Cheers to your next visit, Your Resort Resident
